• [off-topic] I have mentioned Pizza's use of "scumbag" when scum in three prior games, beginning in 2016 with https://www.giraffeboards.com/showpo...&postcount=137 . I also mentioned it in 2018, 2020, and my latest mention makes it once every 2 years like clockwork. At one point I said something like "The tell no longer works since I informed Pizza of it."
• Having said that, I did NOT vote him primarily because of his use of that word. It was the entirety of his diction and demeanor that convinced me he was Scum. I am not particularly good at reading players, but for some reason there is a particular Pizza-scum demeanor (ranting rather than informing) that I recognize easily. (I'm surprised others don't see it easily.)
• And I did NOT vote myself.

Swammi pinged me, and I mentioned it for a couple reasons. One is undoubtedly OMGUS. I KNOW I'm town, so pushing at me raises a couple of theories. They might SEEM like strong points — so strong that your calling them "weak points" is suspicious! You don't want to be seen as smudging Town!

I did NOT vote myself. I cast an ILLEGAL vote on myself whimsically, and mentioned that it was an ILLEGAL vote. (Perhaps the illegality — I hadn't Unvoted — was more apparent to me than to others since I've played with the vote-counting script.)

Almost nobody gets my sense of humor (except a very few close relatives who sometimes find me hilarious). I'm just hanging out, trying to be myself, but am now trying to tone down the whimsy and ambiguity.

I logged in to a Sock so I could tailor the Ignore list for a re-read. I certainly didn't want to see Pizza's posts, and there were several others I wanted to bypass to save time. I posted under the Sock whimsically. But I then voted under the Sock accidentally — A big no-no. I hope I've already apologized for that.

Your main charge against BC and TexCat seems to be the ease with which they voted Pizza and gave little further thought to Day 1. That fits me also to a 'T'! I have them as Neutral. I wish you would vote for your third choice, Raventhief. You show Raven as possibly Elf AND possibly Maria Godfather, so I think she's the best Wrappee.

I have Town leans on Lightfoot and Jackie. I still think Dizzy and Renata are possible Scum. I'm not sure about APSB but do agree there are better candidates for wrapping. (I supported APSB voting as it seemed the likeliest way to get a Double Wrap.)

The plan to have Kai dictate the Double Wrap seems good — especially since he picked Raven as one of the Wrappees — and I'm already voting Raventhief.

I've read through raventhief's posts for the rest of day one and that's literally it as far as reads go, I think. 48 posts and only those two having anything directly to do with anybody else's alignment. She ends the day without a vote on anybody.

It's a shame because at one point day one Burma Shave called her "pure" and I totally get how that someone could say that (if the opinion was real). Her posts are really nice to read and free-flowing. But there's is almost nothing where reads are supposed to be and what little is there, kinda looks like struggly scum.

Mendie & Swammerdami: Both were pile on votes for Pizza with their own reasons. Mendie for knocking him down a peg and Swammer for the scumbag verbiage. Lightfoot also hits that target as well. I'm super uncomfortable that she just did it again, and unvoted Renata (for the potential reveal) and just hopped right on the next wagon. I'm also highly suspicious here.

Tex and Lightfoot are my top two contendors.

As for Mendie/Swammi - I think sometimes you have to return loud and proud with aggressive to get yourself heard properly. It's tough getting through to Pizza sometimes and when he's scum it's even more so because he's able to spin well. I'm fairly confident this is a scum of some sort.

I'm not seeing APSB or Burma at all.

RedSkeezix -- yes I thought Red's prolific use of "we" was overcompensating, and I think I still may be right about that. Red's 2:43 seems overly focused on disproving guiri's claim, which really should just be accepted in the absence of a counter-claim. This seems all about discrediting rather than solving.

I abandoned the game when it got unwieldy out of frustration. I really didn't and still don't like how that all went down and for the first time since I started playing mafia I took an emotional hit that made me think that I didn't want anything to do with this game and maybe Mafia at all. I was really uncomfortable and disgusted.

And that Day 1 makes it supremely difficult to make sense of anything as far as solving the puzzle goes.

I did return at the end of Day 1 or close to it and skimmed some. If I had been in a better head space I probably would have changed my vote, but to whom, I don't know, if at all. So much happened.

I'm going to vote Pleonast right now because he usually makes more logical sense than I'm getting from him, and I don't have familiarity with Red.

I hope Kaiveran returns to give a little direction.

I mean, glaring mistake about me notwithstanding, this is a perfectly adequate reads list. It's just that they're not super engaged overall.

Every time I read Ravens posts I feel like they are towny in the moment and every time I go back and look over them or try and think back to what it was I found towny I can't find that same feeling again.

This game has been rather tough for me to solve even though I think I've been decently close with what we know. I definitely expressed repeated suspicions on both dead scum and thought our wrapped town was towny so I want to feel good about that, but I've never actually latched into the reads and ended up being too passive and easily swayed causing me to back off when it counted. I think it's partly due to a lack of familiarity with the players here but also more because one of my many weaknesses in solving is figuring out slots that have some form of self-killing lashing out (either as full blown self votes or a simple "thats fine, kill me im just vanilla town") and that's happened a few times.


It's a me thing, not a others thing. Just trying to verbalize my shortcomings thus far and see if I can adjust in a positive way to help out down the stretch here.

This feels like a pivotal day in the game and I'm hoping we wrap at least one scum. I see Kai has landed on BC/Raven and I'm fine with those even if there's a bit of Raven hesitancy in the initial moment of the posts from there. It's nice that Dizzy and I appear to be getting on some form of same page, though of course that causes the paranoia of "is that just because I've finally backed off of scum reading there" lol.

Renata, can you give me as much in depth thoughts on APSB as you can muster? I read what you've said already - and thanks for the detailed response to my wall posts - but that is the one I need to get on the same page as you with one way or another.

Well, yeah. I'd prefer to believe that somebody who stands a chance to get lynched today is scum though. And I don't mean lack of engagement only in terms of the amount of their participation. In terms of quality, like I said, it's all ... fine. (There's more than I quoted, they're doing at least the bare minimum of what town should do. But it's not a shining paragon of town solving either. They're middling for me.)

Miko -- I can't do anything else on APSB today. I've done as much ctrl-F-ing through multiple threads as I can stand for somebody who was not included in the cop's preferences. If you want to look back yourself you'll see me point out a couple things on day one and after, and I'll comment on those if you quote them. But I'm done. People are probably better off ignoring me anyway given my recent track record.

I think everyone has done a pretty good job of appearing towny to some degree and obviously nearly a quarter of the game are scum so that's pretty impressive. It's why I'm struggling more today but I'm hoping I've landed on something decent. None of my scum reads are because I think someone is obvious scum. Rather I think there are just sweet spots that scum will be hiding in based on how the game has played out and these are the people I think fall into that.

Hopefully no offense is taken on my scum reads of anyone by them. If they end up being town it was a me problem and not a them problem.

I don't see anything you said as offensive. but assuming someone is playing poorly because you don't agree with them in a game of opinions is downright shitty and unnecessary.
