I worked on a possible solution for the dormant sidekicks megapoll and came up with three lists: Hero, Villain, Other. Total entries: 256.

I'll post the lists in a closed thread. Any comments, suggestions, complaints, post them here.

I'm going to try something different. The first two rounds will be contained to matchups within each of the three categories (VILLAINS vs VILLAINS, etc.); Round Three and successive rounds will be across the board (OTHERS vs VILLAINS, etc.). I'll start with HEROES, posting 5-10 polls daily as time permits me. Polls will run for six (6) days. I encourage participants to check in frequently.

If I discover a potential poll is incorrect, I'll skip over it and find an acceptable replacement. If someone objects to a poll as being incorrect, let me know. I have a backup list of possible entries.

Round One will include brief descriptions for each entry. More obscure (or duplicative) entries will require longer descriptions. (And by duplicative: some entries share similar names.)

Let the games begin!

That sounds like a good one. I'm guessing Thriller especially is coming to mind. Though I would vote for Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody I think. I would probably vote Take On Me higher also.

Not for the final 8, but I would keep voting for Weapon of Choice by Fatboy Slim (Christopher Walken's surprising dance video) until it came up against a final 8.

Wait, "Don't Come Around Here No More" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers might be my #1. That Mad Hatter video was so damn good.

A bunch of Weird Al videos will do well, my vote would be Amish Paradise.

Believe it or not, some of the newer (as in the last twenty years) videos are pretty good, too. Although, yes, "Thriller" is the one that got me thinking about it, not that I'd necessarily see it winning. Holy crap, rewatching some of MJ's vids of songs that I truly love -- nah, those videos were pure comedy, and not in a "Call Me Al" kind of way. The dancing and music is incredible, of course, but the storyline is cringey, so cringey.

I was thinking of starting with Rolling Stone's best 100 of all time, adding in MTV Video Award winners, and finishing with another 100 nominations.

@TroutMan has a music video poll waiting in the wings, but I got an idea for a celebrity crush megapoll. Is this something of interest? I'd like to have both boys and girls participating, maybe run separate polls per gender.* Above all I'd like to keep it tasteful without the ick factor.

*These would be pre-Y2k celebrities, in line with the overall demographic of Raffers. If someone wants to make a case for post-Y2k, I'll listen.

I think this could be fun. And I'd advocate for sticking with pre-Y2K, as I think more current would risk ick.

BUT! I'm a guy and don't have to put up with much objectification, so the poll might hit differently for others. I'll listen to some other opinions.

My immediate thought is one poll for everyone just based on the fact that I would like to vote for both Bobby Sherman and Helen Hunt. for example!
