Felt vs. MC--Rules
General mafia rules:
1. In this game, there are townies (The Felt), and there are scum (The Midnight Crew). The townies, who cannot communicate with each other, win when they kill all of the scum. The scum, who can communicate with each other, win when they can ensure that the townies will die no matter what they do. Usually, this happens when the scum outnumber the town. 2. The game proceeds in a Day/Night cycle. During the Day, the town gets a chance to kill any one player, who is decided by vote. Ties are broken by whichever player was most recently voted. To vote, use the [vote][/vote] tags, and to unvote, use the [unvote][/unvote] tags. 3. During the Night, players tend to chat about non-game stuff, though they can discuss strategy. The Scum, meanwhile, get to kill someone off in secret, which is decided on in a secret area where they can talk. 4. If a player has a special power they can use during the Night, they can do so by sending a PM to the moderator. If two powers conflict in a non-obvious way (e.g. Two players with killing abilities targeted the same guy. Which one killed him?), the tie will be broken by who sent theirs first. Etiquette/Forbidden Things Rules: 5. Metagaming makes the moderator sad. ![]() 6. DO NOT EDIT. It is strictly forbidden. The moderator can edit your posts in the event of an impending time paradox (pending mafia subforum moderator powers); this is the only time he will do so. 7. Please participate. If you drop out, I will try to find a sub for you, provided it isn't late in the game. There are, however, no direct punishments for not playing. 8. Players may post real/fake PMS in the game. I think the game is properly secured against metagaming based on these role PMs. 9. If you have any questions about the color (theme, backstory, flavor text), feel free to ask. If the color has any bearing on the game, it will be explained in more direct terms immediately after. 10. If you have a question for the moderator, please post it bold and green and flashing. Not flashing. 11. If you would like to be spoiled, sub out, or just want to air your thoughts, please contact me via PM. This Game Specific Rules: 12. A mason is a town player who knows that at least one other player is town and can communicate with that player or those players. 13. Any randomness will be resolved with the website random.org. Roles are assigned randomly. 14. There are no players without either a town or a scum win condition. 15. The moderator may ignore questions directed at him in the game thread if he feels it necessary. He will never ignore PMs with questions. The Super-Important Weird Voting Rule (will be in the next post because it's just that important! Also I got interrupted.) |

This game takes place in a universe chock-full of time travel. Every other character has some sort of time power, and even the ones that don't appear to via perspective cuts. So it only makes sense that the players can get a little help from their future or past selves, am I right? Thus, the rule:
Any player can vote into the future or past. That said, you still only get one vote per day. You also can only move one vote to the future/past per day (barring potential paradoxes), and you can't stack more than two votes on any particular day (since that would allow for ridiculousness). Also, no player can pull a vote from farther in the future than Day 7, since the game almost certainly won't go farther than that. In order to pull a vote from the future, a player does the following: . And then, on Day 5, that player must . If that player doesn't I'll edit it into their posts, since time paradoxes are impossible. If, on the other hand, one wanted to save a vote for the future, one could do this: , where X is a placeholder. They could specify X, but it is not necessary. However, if a player this route, then he must, on Day 3, do this: , and at the end of Day 3 I'll edit in the placeholder to avoid paradox. Future/Past votes may be unvoted and switched as normal, as long as you clearly label them. They will also be recorded as such in the vote counts on the day they resolve (not the day they are cast). Examples: On Day 4, wily NAF wants storyteller dead. Real bad. So he pulls in a vote from Day 5 and Storyteller goes down. But, during the Night, Pleonast the Scum Silencer keeps NAF from voting the next day. In order to avoid a paradox, NAF must pull his vote from Day 6 into Day 5, and then send it back to Day 4, preventing him from voting the next day as well. On Day 1, Nanook decides that he doesn't have much of a case on anybody and decides to send his vote into day 2, unspecified. Unfortunately, that Night he gets killed by the vigilante for being a lurker. The vote disappears into the aether, as Nanook is no longer alive to place it on any particular player. On Day 5, scum bufftabby decides to send her vote into Day 6, in the hopes that, since it will be 3-handed that day, she will be able to force a lynch of a townie and win. Unfortunately, her kill gets blocked that Night. Since she's already got an extra vote from the past, she can't pull another vote from the future. The townies catch onto her, lynch her, and win. On Day 2, there is a close voting situation between MHaye and Total Ulla. Hoopy Frood decides to pull a future vote from Day 7 to break the tie to MHaye, figuring he'll be dead by then anyway. Then, Sister Coyote votes (in the present) for Total Ulla, tying it up again. Even though Hoopy's vote is from Day 7, Sis C's vote came later in Day 2, and thus Ulla is lynched. |

::hands Bill an orange Bayer::
Is it just me, or does this sort of voting reek of Scum-tell? |

So if on Day One I did "Vote the_vote_leader on Day 4" and I got killed on Day 2
do i get resurrected on Day 4 to avoid the paradox? :-) |

On Day 1, I use my Day 3 vote to cast the tie-breaking vote on peekercpa (who turns out to be scum). Night 1, I get killed by the other scum. If my Day 3 vote gets erased, then peeker is alive again, but now everyone knows he's scum. If it doesn't get erased....PARADOX! We all die. |
