RIP Carmine Infantino
Turning out to be a pretty damn lousy day, all things considered. I know we've got a fair number of old-time comics fans 'round these parts who might care or be interested.
Carmine Infantino was one of the most influential artists of the Silver Age and co-creator of (among others) the Silver Age versions of the Flash and Batgirl, as well as Deadman, Animal Man, the Elongated Man, the Human Target and the artist behind one of the greatest, most copied/homaged/parodied comic book covers ever. |

My condolences to your loss. May I offer you a hot beverage?
On a personal note: your second link reminded me of the time I made a sever lapse of judgement which resulted in losing my prized copy of "The Flash of Two Worlds" issue. To this day I mourn the loss of it. Maybe I should make myself a hot beverage as well. |

I personally love comic books. The marriage of art and literature together. Sad to see one of the good ones go.
That said there's great comics coming out from the new generations. SAGA being a personal favorite of mine recently. (Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples) |

That's sad news. The silver age Flash was my favorite of the DC stable. Sleep well Carmine you did good.

Infantino was/is the forgotten great from the silver age. He didn't have Stan Lee to hype him like Kirby and Ditko did, so he's not as well remembered as he should be. But while others have done Flash well, nobody'll ever do Adam Strange like Carmine.

I got a report on it, it was threadshitting (very minor, but still) and socks have no rights.

I thought the Infantino Flash was the best comic of its era, with the best gallery of villains this side of Batman or Spider-Man: Captain Cold, Heat Wave, The Top, the Pied Piper, Abra Kadabra, Professor Zoom, the Trickster, and Gorilla Grodd. Infantino was a terrific artist (his style of showing the Flash in motion became the standard) and he did nice work on reimagining Batman.

I had a copy of the first appearance of The Trickster.
My mom gave it to the church rummage sale. Let the sock out, that was an ok post. |

For the record, it was not me who reported the post, but I have to admit I don't think it was particularly appropriate for the thread.

Inappropriate what? He made a in character expression of commiseration, related a personal experience regarding the OP, and called back his original statement in a light self-effacing manner. What's the threadshit, that he was in character? That's weak fucking sauce.

Socking it up in a memorial thread seemed sort of disrespectful and inappropriate to me, that's all. I didn't like it much, but I also didn't care enough to do anything about it.
Beyond that, you'll have to take it up with Fenris and/or Giraffe. |
