Did you experience any late growing? I was just 6'4" when I was 18 and I've grown 2.5 inches since.

I'm always weirded out when I'm around people who are taller than me. There's usually a moment or two where we size each other up, and then someone asks how tall the other is.

Phew!! I'm not the shortest anymore!!!!! Thankyew!! (I stopped growing when I was 12 years old, so I was tall for a 12 year old girl, then suddenly everyone else hit a growth spurt).

I can't even claim that. I never did have a growth spurt, just a very slow steady growth until I stopped around age 11 or 12. My parents are both average size for their gender, so the doctors all thought for sure that there was something VERY wrong with me, but they were wrong. Ok, well, there IS something very wrong with me, but it has nothing to do with my size. One of my mother's favorite stories to tell is about my first day of kindergarten. I rode the bus to school and my sister dropped me off at the kindergarten building, but the teacher didn't see her. They called the cops because they thought someone had abandoned their toddler at the school. In the teacher's defense, I weighed 18 pounds and did still wear toddler size clothes. My mother was livid.

The cops stopped me 'cause they had a BOLO out on a 13 year old runaway.

I was 19 at the time.

I stopped growing when I was about 12 as well. And, yes, it was great fun being 6 feet tall in the sixth grade. I wasn't awkward at all. My nickname wasn't Big Bird.

I grew seven inches when I was 12-13 and my legs hurt ALL the time. I'm 5'9", tall enough that women's pants hardly ever have long enough legs on 'em.

I was at work a few years ago with an Allen-Bradley technician who had flown in to help us with a problem. Mid-shift, I'm at my computer and he comes and sits beside me talking excitedly about the huge guy he just saw - I'm 5'8" he was 6'8". Hearing a 6'8" guy go on about the huge guy he just encountered is kind of weird. I knew right away who he was talking about though, I used to work with this guy: here he is on the set of Sherlock Holmes. He's 6'11" - 320 lbs.

I've tried on women's pants labelled Average for length and they'd just about make capri pants for me! Women's clothes sizes are fucked up. It doesn't help that I'm not overly tall but require a 34" inseam because most of my height is leg.

I don't own a pair of pants that hasn't had to be hemmed. I wear scrubs at work, and even though I order the extra small, I still had to take them up by more than 6 inches. And don't even get me started on shoes. (Size 2 in little girls.) ugh.

5' 10½" I've shrunk about a half inch though. And, like Smartie, most of it is in my legs. I look almost normal sitting down. It makes buying clothes a pure bitch though. It's really hard to get the length on slacks without them being way too big everywhere else. And shirts...sigh. It's rare to find a shirt that the cuffs actually cover my wrists. If the sleeves are long enough the rest looks like I'm wearing a sack.

Good thing I love classic clothes because Land's End custom hems! You haven't experienced giddy luxury until you get good wool slacks that actually cover your ankles.

Pure genetics though; my cousin's daughter is 6'1" at 15. My grandfather and uncle were both 6' 6". Family get-togethers do resemble a herd of giraffes amiably wandering around.

174cm, or so it was reported on my last physical. I usually have trouble finding clothing in the US because no clothing retailer can imagine anybody with a 27 or 28" waist would ever possibly have an inseam longer than 29". For the record, I'm more like a 32" inseam.

Thankfully, the clothing over here fits me beautifully.

6' 2" here. I find it somewhat amusing when I find someone claiming 6-3 or 6-4, where I'm obviously taller than they are. My brothers are 6' 1" and 6' 4".

I'm 5' 3 1/4". My problem is that I have a normal torso and short legs. Regular pants are too long, but petite pants shorten the crotch as well as the legs, so they give me a wedgie. This is why I love capris.

6'3" or 191 cm

I used to be really tall, certainly one of only 3 kids who were 190 cm + in my 1.500 student high school.

30 years later I'm not shrinking (though bulging somewhat at the middle), but there are tons of kids at the high school I work that are around 190. Quite a lot of girls who are 5'10 to sex feet even. Statistics bear with me, Swedish people are getting taller.
