6'3". I shot up so quickly in 6th grade that I developed a bunch of stretch marks. When people saw them, it looked like I'd been whipped or caned, and they thought I was beaten at home.

I used to be the tallest person I know, and now there are freshmen (freshmen!) here at the university who tower over me. That ain't right! My advisor is about 6'7". He's also the runt of his family.

My last boyfriend was 6'2", which put him at 17" taller than me.

Since we're talking about family members now, the pediatrician told my mom that my sister and I would both be 5'9". I'm 5'7" and she's 5'11". We average out right, I guess. Kinda sucked when she outgrew me (or, more accurately, when she noticed that she'd outgrown me) and I got some payback for all the pushing around I'd done.

Hmmm. I've noticed that my hubby claims 6'1", but is always a couple of inches taller than other guys who claim they're 6'1"! I figured he was actually 6'3" and just hadn't been measured since he was a teenager.

My hubby is 6' 1", but my Dad was 6' 2". My hubby always seemed taller, though, because Dad had this gut and shorter legs, and he wore his pants under his tummy. I had to see them side by side to really picture Daddy as taller. This all changed for me when he got sick and lost weight, including his gut. He suddenly looked really tall, especially since he was a tall old guy--of all the health problems he had, osteoporosis was not one of them. Also, he rarely stood up, so when he did it was startling. Sometimes it's just a matter of perspective.

Himself is one of those who claim to be taller than he is--I measured him myself at 5'11", but I've heard him claim he's 6'2" on more than one occasion. That is so dumb, especially when he'd claim six foot plus TO ME! Hey, dumbass, I MEASURED YOU!!! I made his clothes, there isn't a dimension on the man unknown to me, yet he'd still try to bullshit me about his height. Shoulda paid attention.

5'7 which is a bit short for a guy, but not that much so it's no big deal. I don't feel particularly short, just not tall. I think statistically the average in the UK is about 5'8.5 or something so I'm not that far off.

I'm 5'8" (173 cm) which makes me the tallest person in my wee little family where the guys are around 5'5"-5'6" and the gals are 5'2"-5'4".

I heard not too long ago that the American averages were 5'9 1/2" for men and 5'4" for women and that average Canadians are 5'11" for men and 5'5 1/2" for women. I'm not sure why Canadians would be taller, on average, than Americans, since we all come from more or less the same stock. I just write it off to the same thing that makes Canadians live two years longer and have more sex than Americans.

I'm 5'8" and upset that I'm not 6' like the doctor predicted when I was little. That's still the cut-off between average and tall for women, but I'd have liked another inch or 4. I get a little freaked out if a woman is substantially taller than me, though, because that's generally unusual.
