Women are Unhireable now
All of these decades old sexual harassment allegations (AKA - Office Flirting) are going to ruin good women applying for jobs for a generation.

Think about this, you're the BOSS, why would you hire a women that can pop a baby out every 1-2 years, taking months off every time? Also, all she has to do is say she was sexually harassed (no evidence needed) and she will bring down your top producers and possibly your entire company if you are a small business.

No sane person would hire a woman in today's culture. So sad. There are a lot of good women out there that deserve a good job, but they are unhireable now.

I have respect for Chuck as I do for any hard-working writer but he way overplays one out-of-print book and the expertise it gives him, even though the field has massively changed in the last thirty years (or however long it's been since Sta roamed.)

I've only read the one review of Staroamer's Fate that's been linked to a million times over the years. Are there others? I know when the book was on Amazon there was only one review and it was from Chuck himself but that seems to have been deleted.

I certainly can have respect for someone who has written a novel and managed to get it published, that's definitely an accomplishment (especially back then, before self publishing became a thing) but, yeah, what Plumbean said otherwise.

All I can say is the book has not shown up on Bookbub.com , which lets me buy books for free, .99 or (trilogies and above) for really low prices.

And I love Conspiracy/Spirits/Gods/Mary Sue books.

When they are Free.

IIRC, he published a second novel that was a sequel to the first one.

Catching up after the weekend and reading the Shags thread. It's amazing how he posts the same thing over and over so much that reading his posts is like deja vu every single time.
Things like:

I know you will never believe it but that is reality. The real problem is that I am a thrill seeker and have issues with compulsion but I can keep them in check whenever necessary (i.e., at work or in social situations). That causes me to end up in a lot more improbable situations than most other people but I don't regret them because the fun makes up for all of the heartache.

He says that, almost verbatim, multiple times in the pit thread as well as other places. He does it in other threads, as well. It's like he has only stock comments he can make, so he has to find where they best fit and drop them.

The most jarring thing about his whole misogyny, besides the fact he won't even acknowledge it, is that he shows examples of it even while denying it. He does not refer to women as people; they're things. Talking about this new Australian woman he created for the ongoing story, he says, "I've always wanted one". That is how he refers to women -- as 'ones', 'thats', 'its', and other non-human wording. I think he's incapable of seeing women as actual people.


Oh, and he's totally going out with the Jewish heiress, except he's not, because she failed to make a scheduled phone call to him, and that's a big no-no in his book, so that frees him up to now date the Russian and the Australian. Because that's how the world works.
