The whitewashing of history continues. They’ve now removed references to the code talkers who were instrumental in our efforts during World War II to defeat the Nazi regimes they’ve already removed mentions of metal of honor and other war heroes who happen to be black or female, all into the guise of getting rid of”DEI” so apparently only white males exploits are to be mentioned because it must be assumed that any minority or female action that had been noted should be ignored because obviously it’s only because of DEI that they would have been mentioned in the first place

They'll have some mention in their abridged history books of how grateful those minorities were to be helping US soldiers accomplish their missions, but it was always the white men who saved the day.
I can't wait to hear how they spin the Japanese Internment Camps. |

I'm with boycotting all things Musk, but he's busy awarding himself government contracts while screwing over all of the competition, so I don't know how much good we can do there. I would never have believed even last year that we could become a kleptocracy/kakistocracy in only two months.

FYI the link opens to Press Secretary (and Barbie Doll contestant) Leavitt telling us how grateful those Frenchies should be, that we (the US, not the Allies) saved their little froggy butts from the Nazis. Oh how I miss the passion of Sean Spicer. |

A bunch of Trump Rangers,, Tulsi (spell it backwards!) Gabbard, Gay Dee Vance, Pete Hegseth and them apparently fucked up pretty bad and Bitch-ass Donny seems to not have known about it until a journalist asked him about it after it became public knowledge. It is hoped that the public will get fired up about this major scandal!

And as a probable distraction from Signalgate's blatant and total disregard for laws regarding handling classified information, the felon has demanded all the states require proof of citizenship to vote. And no, a birth certificate isn't good enough - it has to be a passport or REAL ID compliant driver's license. Never mind that in the complete mess that is the American system, all elections are handled strictly by the states and the felon has no power to back up this demand.

And, if you thought things couldn’t go much farther off the rails, the trumpanzee is now floating the idea of compensating those pardoned rioters who were convicted behind their actions on Jan 6th. Why not reward them, after all, according to the felon, it was a peaceful demonstration.
You can read all about that on Politico today. |

Unless he wants to pull it out of his own pocket (assuming there isn't a hole in it where the people he owes suck it out as fast as he puts it in), the only way it could happen on Uncle Sam's nickel is if he can get some suck-up (MTG, perhaps?) congressclown to introduce it. All spending bills have to originate in the House of Representatives. Then it goes to some committee or other, then gets shuffled off to another committee ... <repeat as needed>... until it either 'dies in committee', or manages to reach a full House vote. If it doesn't get a majority, it dies right there. If it gets a majority, it then goes on to the Senate, where it will certainly get filibustered, and unless enough Democrats tell themselves 'Hey, why not pay people (who tried to overthrow an election) for the inconvenience of being charged, tried, convicted, and imprisoned for their crimes?'. If that doesn't happen, that's where Trumpy's idea dies. (What, are we tired of WINNING already? Somehow, I don't think anything much in the last paragraph will happen, except for one or another of the 'it will die there' bits. Last edited by C2H5OH; 26th March 2025 at 07:51 PM. |

How? He wasn't elected, and apparently being a seriously intense asshole of a liar isn't illegal enough to prevent him from being homeland security czar (where he will no doubt uphold utmost standards of integrity with the warrantless wiretaps, secret courts, and gag orders). Congress could theoretically do something like change the law enough to eliminate his position, but they can't fire him.

Meanwhile, in yet another effort to sabotage the American economy, the felon has slapped a 25% import tariff on foreign-built cars. Never mind that Adam Smith's invisible hand encourages domestically-built cars to become more expensive to match; the claimed goal of this tax is to build more cars here in the US, even though the absolute best case to open new car factories is three to four years from the word GO.

Shame on all of us. How quickly we ALL assumed that the major security breach trumpy’s team of incompetent rookies caused was real.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Wednesday insisted that the affair was a big “hoax” and showed that “Democrats and their propagandists in the mainstream media know how to fabricate, orchestrate and disseminate a misinformation campaign quite well.” She also attacked the integrity of Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg, who was mistakenly added to the chat among senior officials. Silly democrats, don’t they know you can’t outsmart a trumpanzee. |

So, I’m a little paranoid now, but 538 seems to have been disappeared. Try accessing the site and you end up at ABC News. Nate Silver has lost his voice? ABC isn’t all that bad but please tell me the corporate overlords aren’t falling in behind the royal nincompoop.

I go with RCP polling and generally stick with the median. They include some polls that some might find 'sus' (Rasmussen, for example). Trump is probably anywhere from even to 4 points underwater currently. We're not even in a recession yet, which seems inevitable, so I expect his numbers to decline further. But he's not anywhere close to Nixon 1974 or George W. Bush 2008 numbers, unfortunately. He's probably out-performing Biden (for now).

HHS got gutted on Monday, all the way up to senior leadership.
People were given points of contact for follow-up. At least one POC left the department months ago, and another passed away. But their names are still on the web sites. So I suspect the messages were generated by web crawlers, and nobody bothered to make sure the info was correct. ALSO - I strongly suspect many of the layoffs violated multiple laws and rules governing federal employment. With Musk, it's a good idea to assume bad faith. |

Rumors are seeping out of the dark lairs of the GOP that Elon musk is in his end game. Rumors attributed to the White House, but denied by the same, claim he’s due to be deleted in a month or so. I can see that the musk bucket might want out, I mean Tesla is in a nose dive, he just blew millions in Wisconsin for naught, he’s about as popular as Typhoid Mary. Couldn’t happen soon enough.

This was on CNNN this morning. Apparently Musk is in a deeper hole than we thought.
New York CNN — All it took was losing $100 billion in three months to make Elon Musk change his tune on government work. ICYMI: The last 24 hours have brought a parade of humiliation for the world’s richest edgelord, starting with his $20 million losing bet on the pro-Trump candidate for the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Hours after the loss in Wisconsin, Tesla reported its biggest sales drop ever, falling 13% in the first quarter, while its No. 1 rival grew revenue by 60% in the same time period. Then came a Politico report quoting MAGA insiders who say that Musk has overstayed his welcome in Washington. 100 billion dollar loss. Awesome. |
