Sporcle - 4 Letter Words From Other Words

Four letter words from other words.

"You got 83 out of 106 words that can be created from the following four-letter groups according to the SCRABBLE Dictionary."

I'm slow, but I still enjoyed this.

I took that one earlier, but forgot what I got on it. I know I probably didn't do well because I'm no good at word jumbles, which means I hate Scrabble.

84. They got a REALLY comprehensive dictionary for this one. I have a pretty good vocabulary and I've never ever seen 2/3 of the words I missed.

92. Ran out of time, but not before I got the least-common word -- because of this place.

Towards the end I was just throwing random combinations at the clues.

Toward the end? Hell, I was doing that around the middle, especially with the letter combos that had four or five I hadn't gotten.

Each of the combinations had two CVCV combos, and most had a CVVC, CVCC or VCCV combo. It was just a question of knowing them or guessing right.

Well, consider that it was a deliberate job on my part to word-bomb the quiz at somewhere north of 90 permutations per minute (some of them already submitted, but when I'm peppering something with letter combos, I figure the occasional duplicate is compensated for by the speed advantage) -- it gets more combinations in, and when you're dealing with only 24 permutations (4!, or 4 factorial, is 4*3*2*1, or 24) times something like 12 sets of letters, etc., it's a strategy that, judging by the lack of a score superior to mine, seems to have paid off. On the other hand, if we had to match those words to definitions, you could make the word knowledge argument

(Or, yes, you knew more words than I do, but consider that when Polycarp and I have played Boggle, I've beaten him pretty reliably via my word pepperage.)
