Dear Llamadrama

I started you because there was a gap in the Giraffeboards, there were a lot of us that used to chat in Mello, but that turned nasty, so I created you. Myself and a handful of moderators and a lot of slapdash coding made you. This afternoon, when I dropped in, there were 12 people in there chatting. I hope they all had fun.

I dropped in today and my name had been changed after log in. The only way you can accomplish this is in the database. To get into the db you need to have access. As far as I know, only myself had db access.

LLamadrama, I spent a year and a lot of money and server changes to keep you up. I'm sorry Llama that people can let things be. I'm sorry, I have to put you down.

I am sorry, Llama, that some people need to make stupid hacking changes just to prove they can. I am sorry, Llama that people feel that its ok, to do stupid things like this, even if it's just a silly chat room to a lot of people.

Chiming in to say I hope you don't leave here, even if you need to step back from LD. I never went to chat--just not my thing. But I always thought it was nice that you provided that for people who were interested. And I remember many times when people posted threads here because they were sad, lonely, or having a generally rough time in life, and people would say, "Hey, come to chat. We're here and you can join in and have fun too." So I have always been glad that there was that kind of space for folks to go and hang out.

Even though I'm not around a lot and haven't gotten to know you really well, I see you as a positive force here. Loved your ray videos, for example. They made me smile, so I hate the thought of someone knocking the ice cream cone out of your hand like a two year old. For what it is worth, Mello's Chate is largely in non use since Exy was banned. You're all welcomed to use it of course. The two communities still have more in common then not.

I am so sorry, thren, I have seen first hand how much you put into chat, how hard you have worked not just to keep it running, but to ensure it was open and welcoming, that everybody could feel they belonged in there. I thought I wasn't a chat person until I dropped in once a year ago, since then I have met some wonderful people, I have made friendships, I have seen people help each other out when they were lost and hurting, I have seen chat working as a force for good in people's lives, my own included. When GB lost its domain name, Llamadrama was the way I confirmed that the IP I'd found was correct.

It might not have been somewhere I visited very often, but I always saw it as a cousin to this site. A hot, brunette cousin that I liked to be close to sometimes, sniffing her hair.

Dude, what the fuck? That sucks a lot and whoever is responsible is a fucker. Any idea how they got in? Save your http logs. If they did a SQL injection attack, the probing should be fairly obvious, and then you have IP's to block (whether or not you ever decide to host chat again, blocking assgoblins from poking at your server is a good idea).

I am very upset, as this has ruined my Saturday night plans. . Are people moving over to mello chat? Does someone need to step forward and be the chat-host/hacker-bait?
