To answer the "why induce" tag, it's because of the increased risk of infection once the membranes ("bag of waters") are broken.

Okay, Imma go to bed now, but I expect snorggly babby pictures next time I log in, missy.

Waiting Room Dispatch #154, 2032 hours Pacific Time:

Still no word on babby. Am considering placing AbShakers on Salambo's belly. May have to to take evasive action thereafter, but will take one for the team.

If I don't return to this thread, please contact my lawyer at 1-800-DUM-SHIT and instruct him to "open the envelope".

Epiduuuuuuural! Long, slow, painful labour. Exams every hour had me nearly in tears until FIL said "get the damned epidural, girl, no one is going to give you a medal for doing it natural!" I relented. I'm really really glad I did.

Just narrowly avoided a c- section, but with a few tricks we made progress. The nurse just showed me my chart, and something about the graph coming together and making a cross means things are about to (hopefully) speed up.

C'mon babby...

The only leg shakes I had were during the transition phase of labor (his head was too big..we failed transition ), when the pelvic bones are separating to allow the head to pass through. I ended up with a c-section, and didn't have any leg shaking after delivery.

I personally think that the shaking is due to the fact that women pretty much have their knees up to their ears while pushing....between that and all that bearing down, it just exhausts the muscles. Haven't you ever worked out really hard (or otherwise taxed your muscles to their limit), and had your arms or legs tremble afterward? I've had it happen to me many, many times.

Ok, the good news is, she's getting close to the time the kitchen opens up. I, too, was forced to scrounge around for food after labor. Not only that, what I really wanted was a white russian and there were no liquor stores around, oh, and they explained I couldn't have a drink because I'd be breast feeding.

They damn sure didn't tell me that while I was in labor. For some reason, I really, really wanted a drink and I'm so not a drinker.

Amen on the epidural. No one else has to feel that pain, why should you?

Slambabby, aka Natalie, is here. I kept you guys informed at the same time I updated my far away family
via the internets. She's 7lbs 6oz.

Need to stay in the hospital for 48 hours due to minor infection I had. Pictures when we arrive home.

Everyone healthy and tired.

Ok, if you haven't figured it out yet, baby necks are the best things in the whole wide world to kiss. Snuffle up under that baby fat and give a few kisses!

My daughter recently turned 5. When she was born, she would put her hands up next to her head, elbows out and yawn. She still does the exact same thing. The more tired she is, the more likely she is going to do it. It takes me back to her being a baby in such a surreal way.

Also, you'll be really surprised at how similar that baby is from birth, to how she will be later on. My daughter was calm, happy and a very agreeable baby. She's the same sort of kid.

Congrats to you and yours. It is a hell of a ride you are on, and this is just the current "best part." Yeah, you'll have lots of those. Also, favorite stages, lots of those too.
