@you_assholes: Here's a new mod for bothering people with

At KidV's request, I installed a new mod to let people call specific posters' attention to a given post using Twitter-style @ tags. You can also get notified whenever someone quotes a post of yours, which is helpful if you say a lot of stupid or offensive things.

There are several ways to tweak it, both on my end and in your individual UserCPs, so let me know what you want changed. There's also a Pro version which I don't mind getting if people think the additional features would be fun. But let's first find out if it makes the board (even more) intolerable first before we shell out the big bucks.

A smart bookie might put the line at closer to five minutes. This whole thing seems horrible. All the links go right to my profile rather than the post, I've gotten four emails from the board already and I still don't quite get the point of all this.

It may depend on whether you have your UserCP set to allow emails from users and/or administrators. But once you get tagged / mentioned / quoted, you get emails. I can disable that for some or all of those things. I think we'll have to see how much it bugs people. (It bugs me a lot.)

So there's two new tabs in the control panel, too, with links to posts you've been quoted or mentioned in and threads you've been tagged in. I could see that being handy for finding old posts.

I dunno about the mention and tag counters showing up in the user info under post count though?

This is what I like about this place. Giraffe is always willing to experiment with new ways to screw over his users make this board interesting.

Thank you as I was confused last night when I got an email saying sturmhauke had quoted me. I don't care one way or another about this new feature--I'm not even sure how or why it works--but the email notices are a PITA.
